We just updated the plugin we have in the WordPress repository – Video Dashboard. As many of you already know, this plugin allows you to embed a streaming video into the dashboard of your WordPress website.
For a couple years now I’ve been wanting to add Vimeo support to it, and I am happy to report that we have completed that functionality! You can now paste a Vimeo video URL into the settings, and it will automatically show up on the dashboard of your website for any of the selected roles to see.
I’ve found this works really well with my own clients, for whom I can simply add a handful of tutorial videos and have them all in one place. In the future, they have no trouble finding them and watching them again.
I’ve heard from other web developers that they love it as well, because it’s really easy to just add a video. Quite frankly I don’t know why no one else before me made a plugin like this, which is why I went ahead and did it. We are approaching 1,000 active installs of the plugin, which is fun. If we reach 1,000 I’ll be sure to share it with everyone and celebrate!
